News June 2000: These were the news concerning Madrugada and this page in June 2000. To see recent news, please click go to the Madrugada / Page News section.
June 29th 2000 - The new full-length album, still untitled, is scheduled for release in January 2001. The recording sessions in Copenhagen earlier this year hauled a demo, the band is scheduled to go into studio to record the follow-up to "Industrial Silence" in August this year. According to Jon Lauvland Pettersen, the new album will be more inspired by black music, such as soul and funk, and the songs will have more tempo. Madrugada played at the Roskilde Festival last night, in front of 4.000 people in the Yellow Tent. Gathering such a large number was pretty impressive, as one of the festival headlines, Nine Inch Nails, played on the main stage, the Orange Tent, at the same time. The band played eleven songs just like during the Hurricane Festival performance, including the two new songs which are both supposed to be on the new album, "Black Mambo" and "We Are Go." This information plus a little bit more was added to the European Release / Concerts page, the Rare Songs FAQ and the Information About New Album page. June 28th 2000 - A new song, "We Are Go," was added to the Rare Songs FAQ. The song was performed live during the Hurricane Festival performance, and has been written during the European Tour. An own page about the Hurricane Festival was added as a sub-page on the European Release / Concerts page, along with an own page for the Knaack Klub performance in Berlin, Germany on March 20th 2000. On the European Release / Concerts page a couple of more official webpages were added to the Summer Festivals where Madrugada will be playing and have been playing this summer. June 27th 2000 - Madrugada's performance at the Hurricane Festival in Germany on June 25th was a success. Although only four people were there for the Meet & Greet with Madrugada (mostly due to Moby playing at the main stage), the tent where the band played was filled with people who actually got into the music. June 15th 2000 - I am on summer vacation, and therefore there will be lots of updates to this webpage when I have time to work on it, and very little updates when I am away on trips or when I have other things that I have to get done. I am terribly sorry about this, but there is nothing I can do about it. Last weekend, for example, I was in Oslo for the Norwegian Wood-festival, where Madrugada played last year. This year the amazing Swedish band bob hund headlined the second ay of the three-day festival, and they did an amazing performance. You can check out some of the seventy pictures I took of the band on the bob hund experience webpage. In Madrugada-related news, I will most definitely be going to the Hurricane festival in Germany to see the band on June 25th 2000. The tickets have been purchased already. Due to this, I will be away from home from June 20th until the beginning of July, and will probably not get to update this page very much. Please bear with me, hopefully I will have some nice pictures from Madrugada's performance when I get back. June 7th 2000 - Slightly updated the Rare Songs FAQ and added a logo to the page. June 6th 2000 - Added some rumours about the tracklisting for the forthcoming "2nd Hand EP" to the Information About New Album page. Also, "2nd Hand EP" seems almost certain to be the correct title for the EP. As mentioned on the page, it will consist of 'leftovers.' June 4th 2000 - Madrugada will be playing at a rather small venue, Wrightegaarden in Langesund, Norway, on July 5th 2000. This gig is going to be played in-between the band's performances at the Roskilde Festival and the Quart Festival, two of Scandinavia's largest summer festivals. This information was added to the European Release / Concerts page. Some wrong tour dates from the official Madrugada site were corrected on the European Release / Concerts page. The band or its management misplaced the two German festivals Hurricane and Southside. Madrugada will play Southside on June 24th and Hurricane on June 25th, not Hurricane on June 24th and Southside on June 25th as reported on the official site. June 3rd 2000 - An error was fixed on the joining page for the Madrugada Webring. This means the webring pages are back up after having been down for a couple of days due to an error that made it impossible to sign up for the webring. Thanks to Anders Bjørgan for pointing out the mistake in the HTML. The European Release / Concerts page was updated, as I will most likely attend both the Hurricane Festival in Germany and the Quart Festival in Norway. Madrugada will be playing at both these festivals, on June 24th and on July 8th. Setlists and hopefully some pictures from both of the performances will be put up on this page page as soon as, or if, I get them.
