News July 2000: These were the news concerning Madrugada and this page in July 2000. To see recent news, please click go to the Madrugada / Page News section.

July 30th 2000 - Two more pictures, this time from Grand Kjelleren in Egersund, Norway on November 12th 1999, were added to the Exclusive Pictures. More pictures will be added very soon. A review from The Barfly in London, England on March 30th 2000 was added to the Madrugada In Great Britain page.

July 28th 2000 - Added a new page called Exclusive Pictures. Needless to say, this page will include pictures that are exclusive to this page and can not be found on other Madrugada pages on the Internet. So far, these pictures include three pictures from the Hurricane Festival and the Quart Festival that are also available in other sections of this page, plus three new pictures from a pool hall at the Knaack Klub in Berlin on April 20th.

I shuffled around the order of the different sections in the menu on the right page. Most people will probably not notice a very big difference. I also added information on how to contact me, the webmaster, to the References page, which will now be referred to as the References / Contact page.

July 20th 2000 - Added information about "The Fire Of Love," a cover of a Gun Club song, to The Rare Songs FAQ. Thanks to Raymond Hauger for the information. Also added information about two new cover songs, "Preaching The Blues" by Gun Club and "House Of The Rising Sun" by the Animals to the same page. Thanks to E. Ivarrud for the information.

July 13th 2000 - A picture from the Quart Festival was added to the European Release / Concerts page. The picture was taken by myself, please do not use it for your own page without giving proper credit. Click here to view the picture.

In the Rare Songs FAQ, some new information was added to the songs "Ivory Town" and "Legends And Bones." One of the songs formerly listed under "Unknown Title" was revealed to be "Captain, The Men Are Exploding!" while information about what might be a song, "Union Rock," was added. The latter might turn out to not actually be a song but just the early working title for the follow-up album to "Industrial Silence."

The Information About New Album page was completely re-written. Information about "Union Rock" being the early working title for the album and more information about tracks that might end up on the album was added. The expected release date for the follow-up album to "Industrial Silence" is supposed to be January 2001, while the 'leftovers' EP "2nd Hand EP" is intended for release in December 2000.

July 9th 2000 - Madrugada played a fabulous set at the Quart Festival last night. They played for sixty five minutes from 22:15 at Salamanderparken, with an audience of approximately 3.000 people. The band played a regular festival set, but added the new song "Two Black Bones." This is the setlist:

Setlist: 01. Terraplane 02. Vocal 03. Strange Colour Blue 04. Belladonna 05. Higher 06. Electric 07. Black Mambo 08. We Are Go 09. Salt 10. Norwegian Hammerworks Corp. 11. Beautyproof 12. Two Black Bones

I took pictures during the performance which will be finished developed by Thursday, so expect some of them to be put up on this page in the very near future. NRK Petre recorded the show, according to a Petre-employee that stood right in front of me, and at least two people in the audience recorded the show, one on a MiniDisc and the other on a Walkman. Metropol TV filmed five of the songs, from "Strange Colour Blue" to "Black Mambo." As I do not have access to this channel, I do not know whether they have or will broadcast any of this.

The setlist and the other information about the Quart Festival performance was added to the European Release / Concerts page. Pictures from the show will be available on that page later this week, hopefully along with some information on how visitors to this page can obtain their own copy of the recording.

The new song, "Two Black Bones," was added to the Rare Songs FAQ. The song is a definite must-hear, maybe an indication of the direction the band is taking towards a rawer sound. At the Quart festival, the song climaxed with Sivert jumping into the audience while the band kept playing, and parts of the audience had to stick their fingers into their ears because it was amazingly loud.

July 1st 2000 - Some very sad news to being with. Europe's biggest rock festival Roskilde where Madrugada played a triumphant set on June 28th was struck by disaster last night when eight people died in the mosh pit during the Pearl Jam concert on the main stage.

The Roskilde festival is known as one of the best and most peaceful of its kind. It has never before suffered from accidents of any serious kind. I was at the festival last year, and although it did get pretty crowded in front of the stage during the most popular acts, I could never ever have imagined anything like this happening to such a well-organised festival.

Apparently, some speakers malfunctioned, and therefore large masses of people went forward in the crowd to hear better. Even though Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder pleaded everybody to take two steps back three times, no one seemed to notice, and the disaster was a fact.

Please direct your thoughts to the victims of this terrible tragedy, their family, the band who had to witness their fans being crushed to death, and a great festival and a large number of people in the crowd who did not deserve something like this.

In much more positive news, there are some pictures up from the Hurricane Festival in Germany last weekend. The first one is of Sivert at the Meet & Greet with the band earlier in the evening, and the second one is of Sivert onstage, with Jon behind the drum kit in the background. These pictures were taken by myself, please be very kind and do not rip them off and use them on your own page, rather put up a link to this page instead.

Seven German tour dates in October and November were added to the European Release / Concerts page. Changed the information about the band playing at the Kässel Festival in Germany on June 11th, as this was untrue. The band played at a very small Glitterhouse-festival called Orange Blossom Special IV in Beverungen in Germany on that day.

The Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet's Internet edition has an own page in the Culture section dedicated to Madrugada, and on that page there is a link to this very page.
