News: What is happening in the world of Madrugada and on this page? I try to stay as updated as possible, and I will try to bring you the latest rumours and facts concerning Madrugada. Of course, you will also be able to read all the interesting stuff about what has been updated or changed on this very webpage.
November 29td 2000 - Finally some free time to update this page. Some setlists were added to The Concert Chronology. Last Friday I saw the band at Studentersamfunnet at Ås, and got to spend some time with them. A concert review will be put up one of the next couple of days, along with pictures from the concert. The new album is supposed to be released the third week of February next year, with the same release date in Norway as the rest of Europe. The band is planning to do a Norwegian tour at the time of the release of the album, but will not tour in Europe until the summer festivals start in June. They are planning to play a lot of these festivals during the summer. On November 11th the band will go back to Waterfront Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey in America to finish mixing the new album. All the songs mixed during their last stay over there will be re-mixed as they are a bit unhappy with the way they turned out. They expect to stay there for a week, and then take a long vacation. November 23rd 2000 - I will travel to see Madrugada in Ås tomorrow, and therefore this page will not be updated this weekend. But there will hopefully be some pictures available pretty soon, while the show will most likely also be taped by a member of the audience. The French radio station France Inter put up a page about Madrugada, available here. The article is in French, though. Thanks a lot to Vinciane Lebrun for the link. She also gave me a lot of information that was added to The Concert Chronology. November 22nd 2000 - The first pictures from the Madrugada Trip are finally up. I am very busy at the moment, but five pictures from Berlin on October 31st and Freiburg on November 1st are up at the moment. More pictures will be added as soon as I have the time to scan them. Check out Madrugada Trip Photo Gallery for the pictures. There is one specific picture everyone should check out, though, available here. I promised the band I would never put it up on this page, except if I for some reason wanted to blackmail them or whatever, but I just think it is so great that everybody should get to see it. For an explanation, go to Madrugada Trip Photo Gallery and click on the link to the November 1st show at Jazzhaus in Freiburg, Germany. The Madrugada lyrics will be put up very soon! There have been an incredible amount of people asking for lyrics, and I have been doing my best to finish them in a way that where I can be proud of my transcription and where I have not made too many mistakes. I feel it is better to wait a couple of more days and put up correct lyrics than to put up incorrect lyrics today, so be patient. November 18th 2000 - Dagbladet journalist Håkon Moslet met Madrugada when they were in Dresden, Germany on October 29th, and he wrote and article about them and the tour that was supposed to be published on November 1st. Yesterday it was finally published, of course on a Sunday when nobody buys the paper. If you did not buy the paper, the article is available at Dagbladet's website. Unfortunately it is written in Norwegian. The movie "Too Much Flesh" is being directed by the French actor Jean-Marc Barr, who has played in the well-known movie "Breaking The Waves." At Elysée Montmartre in Paris, France on November 14th, Barr was in the audience and shot material which will be used in the music video for "Vocal." To those who have not read Madrugada Trip, Madrugada's "Vocal" will be used as the title theme for "Too Much Flesh," and the people behind the movie is making a music video for the band for free as the band let them use the song in the movie. Thanks to Leo Postma, The setlist from Nighttown in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Saturday was added to The Concert Chronology, along with a lot of other stuff concerning radio performances in France, thanks a lot to Vinciane Lebrun. Also thanks to Vinciane for the information about Jean-Marc Barr. November 18th 2000 - The setlist from the concert at Melkweg in Amsterdam, Holland last night was added to The Concert Chronology page, thanks to Rigina Knaapen. A scan of the setlist will hopefully be available soon. The band played a song I have never heard about before, "Big Sleep," which was added to the Rare Songs FAQ. November 17th 2000 - Sorry about the lack of updates, but I have been very busy lately. Some setlists were added to The Concert Chronology page. The band have played a cover song that I am not familiar with at least once during the tour. Information about this was added to The Rare Songs FAQ as "Unknown Title #1" The concert in Milano, Italy on November 6th was canceled, apparently due to too few tickets having been sold! It is uncertain how many tickets were sold and how big the venue is, and whether the decision to cancel was made by the band or the organizers. Not less than five recordings from the ongoing tour have surfaced so far: 10/14/00 - Mylos Club, Thessalonika, Greece (Saturday) 10/30/00 - Kesselhaus, Berlin, Germany (Monday) 10/26/00 - Logo, Hamburg, Germany (Thursday) 11/01/00 - Jazzhaus, Friburg, Germany (Wednesday) 11/14/00 - Elysée Montmartre, Paris, France (Tuesday) All of these have been recorded by members of the audience. If you know about any other shows having been taped, please be kind and let me know. Setlists from the forthcoming concerts at Melkweg in Amsterdam tonight and at Nighttown in Rotterdam tommorow night, both in The Netherlands, will both be available soon. There are also people going to the concerts at Kägelbanan / The South Theatre in Stockholm, Sweden on November 23rd and Studentersamfunnet in Ås, Norway on the 24th who will make sure to write down the setlist. If you are going to any other Madrugada concerts, please be very kind and bring a piece of paper and a pen and write down the setlist. It is of great help for me when making this webpage, first of all because otherwise there would be nothing to update the page with, but also because it is very interesting to know what material the band is currently playing. As promised earlier, a short but rather interesting from German kulturNews magazine is now available on this page. Thanks to Franzi Ress for translating it. It was published sometime in the middle of last month, and you can read it here. November 9th 2000 - Two more pictures were added today, taken from the M'era Luna Festival 2000 performance on August 13th. First one of Frode looking a bit too much like Nicky Wire from Manic Street Preachers, and then one of Sivert singing. These two were taken from the M'era Luna Festival 2000 section of the Zillo webpage. The German music magazine Gitarre & Bass published a Madrugada article in the June 2000 issue released on May 19th. If you happened to buy this issue or know anyone who did, I would be very interested in a transcription of the article and scans of the pictures. Please be kind and e-mail me if you have any information about this. November 8th 2000 - Eight pictures from Mylos Club in Thessalonika in Greece on October 14th are now available on this page. All of them were shot in black and white, the first seven were shot by by Vasilis Gkinis and the last one was shot by Kostas Papakotas: Sivert during "Norwegian Hammerworks Corp.", Sivert, Robert, Sivert on his knees, Sivert singing, Sivert without a shirt on, Sivert and Frode and Sivert sitting. Thanks to Vasilis and to Kostas for letting me put them up here. More pictures from Kostas, some in color, will be available soon. A preview of the pictures I took during the Madrugada Trip is also available. It was taken at the Faust Club in Hannover in Germany on October 27th. The scan quality is not very good, the other pictures will be up sometime soon and will be bigger and with better quality than this preview: Sivert during "Norwegian Hammerworks Corp.". November 7th 2000 - On Wednesday November 29th the Norwegian band Cinnamoon will release a seven inch on the independent record label Big Dipper Records. The single will feature the tracks "Wax" and "Distant Thunder Rolling," which Frode produced together with Anders Møller from Euroboys. Frode also plays percussion on this track, recorded during a four-day session in Oslo, Norway in May 1999. Cinnamoon will have a releaseparty at So What in Oslo, Norway the same day. The twenty first people to turn up will most likely receive the single for free. If you have time, be sure to check it out. Support band will be American Suitcase. November 6th 2000 - Finally, and unfortunately, back from my trip with Madrugada. Turned out to be much more than just a trip to see eight concerts. Check out Madrugada Trip for a tour diary and eventually some of the four hundred and fifty pictures taken during the eight concerts. All of the information available on that page will eventually be added to the pages where it belongs, but for now I will have to focus on getting back on track with school work after one and a half weeks of vacation. Thanks a lot to the band for making it a great experience that I hope I will be able to do over again some time in the not very distant future. Again, this page will be updated as usual in a couple of days, I just need some time to sober up mentally before I have the time or the energy to do the good old 'office work.'
