News: What is happening in the world of Madrugada and on this page? I try to stay as updated as possible, and I will try to bring you the latest rumours and facts concerning Madrugada. Of course, you will also be able to read all the interesting stuff about what has been updated or changed on this very webpage.

January 27th 2001 - The tracklist for "The Nightly Disease" has now been revealed by the German Virgin website. Thanks to Anders Bjørgan for the information.

01. Black Mambo
02. Step Into This Room
03. Nightly Disease
04. Lucy One
05. Hands Up, I Love You
06. Dead End Mind
07. Frontman
08. We Are Go
09. Into Heartbeats
10. Sister
11. Two Black Bones
12. Only When You're Gone

You might notice that two titles differ slightly from how I write them on this page, "Deadend Mind" and "Hands Up - I Love You." I base this way of writing them on how Sivert Høyem wrote them for me, and since the Virgin website managed to write "Tow Black Bones" instead of "Two Black Bones" I choose to stick to this way for now. Also, the band seems to have changed the title of "Nightly Disease, Part II" to just "Nightly Disease."

A RealAudio soundfile of "Hands Up - I Love You" is available through the German Virgin website at pnm://148.122.66.36:28003/www.virgin.de/555766415.rm. You will need the free RealPlayer to listen to this file. Get it at the real.com website.

January 26th 2001 - The Madrugada Discography was updated. There have been rumours that "Industrial Silence" was released in a limited edition version in Europe, and not just in Norway. This has turned out to be true, as "Industrial Silence" was released as limited edition in Europe on June 6th 2000, two months after the initial European release of the album.

The Norwegian limited edition has "Industrial Silence" and the "limited edition" CD in a 2CD-case and comes in a special cardboard sleeve. The European version differs a bit from this, as "limited edition" comes in a separate cardboard sleeve, put into a plastic sleeve along with the album. The "Industrial Silence" CD is brown like the regular European version, not yellow like the version released in Norway. The music remains the same.

Thanks to Jan Saghaug and Franzi Ress for this information.

January 25th 2001 - Information about Sivert's performance with LVO on October 22nd 2000 was corrected in The Concert Chronology, thanks to Elisabeth Bergquist.

January 24th 2001 - Since I am not earning any money on this website I figured someone else should. So here is a list of albums I think everyone should consider buying, since I really like these, and since I believe people who like Madrugada might like these also:

St. Thomas - "Mysterious Walks" (Racing Junior, RJ006CD)
Corvine - "Nova EP" (EMI Norsk, 7243 8 8946 8 2 7)
Muzzlewhite - "Henry's Lunch" (Big Dipper Records, BDR 002)
Kings Of Convenience - "Playing Live In A Room" EP (Source, SOURCDS 0011)
Smog - "Knock Knock" (Domino Recording, WIGCD60)
Johnny Cash - "American III: Solitary Man" (American, 500986 2)
Coldplay - "Parachutes" (Parlophone, 7243 5 27783 2 4. 527 7832)

January 20th 2001 - Five pictures were put up today, this time from Kesselhaus in Berlin, Germany on October 30th 2000. Eleven more pictures from Berlin will be put up later. From the soundcheck, first the band onstage, then the empty stage. A snapshot of Sivert behind the soundboard before the concert. A picture shot from the left corner in the back, and last a picture of the stage bathed in red that I like a lot. I also scanned the schedule used for the day in Berlin. The back of the paper sheet had been used by the band for calculations.

January 18th 2001 - Some nice, exclusive news today. The title for the long-awaited follow-up album to "Industrial Silence" will be "The Nightly Disease." As mentioned earlier on this page, it is set for release on March 5th 2001. An EP, entitled "Hands Up - I Love You," will be released on February 19th 2001. Thanks a lot to Sivert Høyem for giving me this info.

January 16th 2001 - Management of Madrugada has been taken over by Carsten Jøssund, formerly the band's booking agent at Wigen Partners AS. He is still in charge of booking, now with his new company ArtPro AS.

January 14th 2001 - Complete re-wrote Information About New Album with up-to-date information taken from Sivert's recent post to the guest book at madrugada.net and some guesses as to which songs will end up on the new album. The text on the main page was also changed a bit, thanks to Andreas Lindell, and the page now has different colors on the scroll bar to the right. Unfortunately, this is only visible in new versions of Internet Explorer.

January 13th 2001 - Madrugada will play at Folken in Stavanger, Norway on Friday March 23rd. Thanks to Stavanger Aftenblad and Folken for this info.

January 11th 2001 - Very late last night Sivert posted a very interesting message to the guest book of the official Madrugada page at madrugada.net. He wrote in Norwegian, and since I am supposed to have my stuff in order, here is an English translation:

"Hi. It feels a bit corny to communicate with people through the guest book of your own webpage. I am sorry that this page is not updated more, it is caused by the fact that we have had too much to do the last year. It looks like there will not be less to do next year. I reckon we have some sort of plan for this page, but it is never good to know. Remember that we are a rock band, not fucking spray.com and all of that. In the meantime check out madrugada.de - he has got his stuff in order. Now over to what I was supposed to say."

"We have not in any way been taking time off during Christmas. The new album has gotten a name and a cover, and was finally mastered in New York tonight, again by Greg Calbi. Twelve songs have been arranged in a somewhat sensible order, these songs are just as long as before and about three times as good. The record is sixty four minutes long, small and round, and very good - a true Madrugada album."

"It is well worth waiting for, the release date has been set to March 5th, a major Norwegian tour will start somewhere in the North of Norway few days after that and will be finished sometime during March. The first EP is ready for release one of the first weeks of February, that one is also really good. There will as usual be four brand new songs, one of them is the first single from the album, while the other three will only be released on this EP. Morten Andersen has taken a fantastic picture used for the cover."

"I would like to keep the titles, both for the album and the EP, to myself for now. I know that there are many of you still looking for the lyrics for 'Industrial Silence,' but we are not going to print lyrics in the liner notes this time either. But do not worry! I am currently working on a text collection that will be issued for sale along with t-shirts and other things at the concerts in March. This book will not cost much, I will make it as pretty and as cheap as possible. This is not something I am planning to earn money on."

"The idea is to offer a small Madrugada-souvenir to all of those who would want it. The book will contain lyrics to all previously released songs plus all of the new songs, some unreleased lyrics, comments, some poems, pictures from tours, drawings and lots more. It is my intention to make it as personal as possible. From all of us to all of you! I think you get the idea. I do not surf on the Internet a lot, so I thought this was a nice opportunity to thank all of you who buy and listen to our records, and all of you who come to our shows."

"I think I speak for everyone in the band when I say we are very touched by the reception we have gotten, and the response we get when we play live. We thank you for getting the opportunity to continue releasing records. Not a lot of people get the opportunity to do what they have always dreamt of doing, but that is an opportunity we have gotten, and I can tell you that it is quite a special life. Thank you! Hope to see you somewhere on the road in Norway. Greetings, Sivert."

January 10th 2001 - Big update to The Concert Chronology with a lot of concert venues and a couple of concert dates added. I got threee songs performed acoustically on the Dutch 2 Metre Sessies last Spring, which were added to the Live Bootleg Recordings page. Lyrics for "Higher" and "Don't Let The Flowers Down" were changed on Madrugada Lyrics Section.

Marc Verhees made a really cool intro for this page in Macromedia Flash format. Even though I have had to decide not to use it I like it a lot, and I the visitors of this page should get a chance to see it. You can download it as a WinZip file here. The file is 117 kB when zipped. You will need WinZip and the Macromedia Flash Player to view this file. Download the programs from the respective webpages, even though most of you should already have them. Unzip and open madrugadaintro.swf to play.

January 3rd 2001 - Twenty pictures added today. The first ones are from the concert at Faust in Hannover, Germany on October 27th 2000.

A poster for the concert, found under a bridge close to the venue. Robert, Sivert with a cymbal, Sivert on the floor during "Norwegian Hammerworks Corp." and then with the hand on his forehead. Robert in the darkness. Then some pictures from the backstage area, Jon with Richard the tour manager, Sivert with a journalist, Frode with a beer in his hand and Robert in front of the refrigerator. A picture of Sivert's tattoo, and one of the whole band. I have also put up the setlist used that night, and a picture of the ticket.

The following pictures are from Star Club in Dresden, Germany on October 28th 2000. These were shot with a rather bad compact camera. The empty stage before the concert started, a very dark picture of Frode, one of Robert and then one of Sivert drinking from a wine bottle and playing the clockenspiel. A picture shot from the right side of the stage, only Frode is clearly visible. The schedule used that day. Please note that during the eight concerts, all sheets were stolen with permission.

January 2nd 2001 - More pictures added today. Eventually the pictures posted on this news page will end up in the forthcoming Madrugada Picture Gallery. So far one hundred and fifty pictures have been scanned for the gallery, and about one hundred pictures from eight concerts on the Industrial Silence Tour 2000 that I took, along with pictures shot by others, will be scanned soon, meaning the gallery will eventually be quite large.

Eight pictures from Logo in Hamburg, Germany on October 26th 2000 were scanned today. Sivert singing, Sivert with the clockenspiel and Sivert singing again. "Norwegian Hammerworks Corp." part one and part two, then a cigarette break before "This Old House" and Sivert on the acoustic guitar. Outside Logo, a place the band likes, and where they also played on the first European tour.

These are probably the worst pictures from the eight concerts on my trip with the band during their European tour, as I had just gotten the new camera and had to figure out how to get the best out of the pictures. More pictures from the trip will be scanned soon, pictures from Faust in Hannover, Germany on October 27th 2000 will hopefully be put up tomorrow. Here is the setlist and a ticket from the Logo show.

January 1st 2001 - According to a message posted by Jon in the madrugada.net guestbook, the new album is now scheduled for release in the beginning of March. Jon wrote that the album is almost finished, and that an EP will be released in the beginning of February.

Last summer I saw the band twice on their European Festival Tour, and took quite a lot of pictures with a rather bad compact camera. Most of these turned out so bad that I never bothered scanning them, and only three of them have been available on this webpage before. While working on collecting pictures for the Madrugada Picture Gallery section I realized some of the pictures are not that bad after all, and these have been scanned.

From the Hurricane Festival in Germany on June 25th 2000 there are ten pictures. Sivert at the Meet & Greet before the concert. Sivert hand in the air, and then leaning over the speakers. Sivert in the darkness, and Sivert with lights over his head. A blue picture blue picture then Sivert jumping around with Jon in the background. Another really nice blue picture, a close-up of Sivert and last Sivert with a cigarette in his hand. All of these pictures are of Sivert simply because I stood right in front of him and had a bad camera, so the pictures of the others turned out really bad due to not too much light on stage.

From the Quart Festival in Norway on July 8th 2000 there are four pictures, none of them close-ups as I stood a bit too far away from the stage for good close-ups. Red lights on the stage, someone in the audience with their hand in the air, yellow lights and stars on the stage and a nice dark picture with red and yellow lights on stage.

Two setlists from the Hurricane Festival are also available, one taken from Sivert and one taken from Robert. The setlists are full of dust, as both stepped on them during the concert. Oddly enough, they both also managed to step on the opposite side of the paper...
