News: What is happening in the world of Madrugada and on this page? I try to stay as updated as possible, and I will try to bring you the latest rumours and facts concerning Madrugada. Of course, you will also be able to read all the interesting stuff about what has been updated or changed on this very webpage.

February 24th 2001 - The Information About New Album page has been completely re-written, with information about every song on the new album. Reading this should not ruin the fun of actually listening to the album when it is released on March 5th, though.

Yesterday Dagbladet published an article with Madrugada that is a bit controversial. In Norway there has been quite a controversy regarding a political party where public figures and leaders of the party have been accused of using their position to force young girls, and even boys, into having unvoluntary sex with them. In the article, Sivert says that everybody who votes for this party, about twenty percent of the population in Norway, should not bother buying their album, as they would not understand it and Madrugada do not want their money.

The article can be read at http://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/2001/02/23/243513.html. I think it is a fairly good article, even though it is in Norwegian, and I think their comments about politics have been blown a bit out of proportions. Come to think of it, the only people who get upset by what they said are probably the people who do vote for this political party...

They also talk about other things that annoy them that are a bit more interesting than politics, such as bad music, commercialism in the music industry and the fact that they are always accused of stealing or 'borrowing' material for their music from other artists.

February 22nd 2001 - Some interesting sound files have been put up on the France Inter website. France Inter is a French radio station, where Madrugada appeared on November 14th last year to do an interview and play an acoustic version of "Vocal." Both the interview and "Vocal" is not available in RealPlayer-format.

The interview is really weird, as most French people are not very good in English. The radio host is one of them, so there is a translator present during the interview. The problem is that she is translating while people talk, so it might be a bit annoying to listen to. The performance of "Vocal" is brilliant, though.

Click here to go to the index page, or click the following link to listen to the Madrugada sound file: http://www.radio-france.fr/chaines/france-inter/playlist/son/madrugada.ram. Even people with poor Internet connections should be able to listen to this, but you will need the free RealPlayer, available for download at real.com.

Those with better Internet connections, preferrably an ADSL or better can click the following link, http://www.radio-france.fr/chaines/france-inter/playlist/son/madrugadalive.ram, to listen to a better-sounding version of "Vocal." This sound file does not include the interview. Thanks a lot to Vinciane Lebrun for the information about these sound files.

February 21st 2001 - From today until Saturday February 24th, Madrugada will be in Germany promoting the new EP and the forthcoming album. Be sure to keep an eye out for them in the media, as the German press and radio has been very positive and published a lot about the band before.

On Friday the Information About New Album page will be updated, with a short guide to how all the songs on "The Nightly Disease" sound. Do not worry, there will not be any sound clips available, as that would spoil the fun of listening to the album when it is released.

February 20th 2001 - This should have been added yesterday, but I was too busy with schoolwork to get it all done.

NRK Nordland posted the entire clip from "Dagsrevyen" on NRK1 last Saturday on their webpage. A page with a picture from the clip and a link to the RealPlayer video clip is found on this address. The file can be watched by clicking this address or copy it into the right place of your RealPlayer: pnm://real.nrk.no/distrikt/nordland/realvideo/magasin/madrugada.rm.

The video has a clip of "Beautyproof" taped by soundman Jann Bordervik at Melkweg in Amsterdam, Netherlands on November 17th 2000, an interview with the band where only Sivert is talking and a rehersal of "Hands Up - I Love You" at Stovner Rockefabrikk in Oslo, Norway, probably taped on February 11th.

You will need the free RealPlayer, downloadable from the real.com webpage to watch the video clip. Thanks to Rune N. Andreassen for the information about the clip.

For those who understand Norwegian, some interesting articles about the band have been put out the last couple of days. Two articles have been put out by VG, one a nice article about Madrugada taking over for the great band DumDum Boys, available here, and a nice review of the "Hands Up - I Love You" EP which got five out of six stars, available here.

Lofotposten published an article about the band starting the Norwegian tour in Kabelvåg, which can be read here. Thanks to Hilde Berg-Hansen for this information. Dagbladet published a review of the "Hands Up - I Love You" EP today, giving it four out of six stars, which can be read here.

February 19th 2001 - The "Hands Up - I Love You" EP was released today. As previously reported on this page, some stores may not have it in stock before February 21st. Make sure to buy your copy as soon as possible, as the three extra tracks which will only be available on this EP, all sound very good. The title track simply sounds amazing.

The band was in Stockholm, Sweden the weekend of February 3rd and 4th to record a music video for the title track of the EP. They are currently on a promotional trip which will last until the Norwegian tour starts on March 7th. Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Norway and France will be visited on the three-week trip.

On Friday, March 2nd they are scheduled to appear on the Norwegian television show "Trigger" on NRK1, aired between 16:00 and 18:00. Be sure to watch it. On Saturday February 17th "Dagsrevyen" on NRK1 showed an interview with the band, along with clips from the live performance at Melkweg, Amsterdam, Netherlands on November 17th 2000 and a rehersal at Stovner Rockefabrikk, Oslo, Norway, probably taped on February 11th.

A lot of information was added to The Concert Chronology. Thanks a lot to Carsten Jøssund, Tommy Gundersen and Anne Lena for the information used in today's update.

February 16th 2001 - The setlist for the forthcoming "Hands Up - I Love You" EP is "Hands Up - I Love You," "Run Away With Me," "Ready To Carry You" and "Ice-9." Thanks to Carsten Jøssund for this information. The EP will be released on Monday February 19th, but Virgin seems to be having some problems with getting the EP in stock. Therefore it might not be in stores before Wednesday February 21st.

The tour schedule published yesterday has been confirmed by Madrugada manager Carsten Jøssund. They are still working on getting arrangements for concerts on March 29th and March 31st.

February 15th 2001 - The complete schedule for the upcoming Norwegian tour has been added to The Concert Chronology. It was taken from the TV-stadion NRKs website, at this address. Thanks a lot to Rune N. Andreassen for letting me know.

The tracklist for the forthcoming "The Nightly Disease" album, first published by the German Virgin website, and later on this news page on January 27th, has been proven to be correct. Thanks to Anne Lena for this.

February 10th 2001 - "Hands Up - I Love You" from the forthcoming EP with the same name is now being played on Norwegian radio. The single will be released on February 19th.

February 8th 2001 - Thanks to Nice Price campaigns from several big music chain stores in Norway, "Industrial Silence" got a thirty second place on the Norwegian Top Forty Albums chart list. This is the album's thirty sixth week in the charts.
