News: What is happening in the world of Madrugada and on this page? I try to stay as updated as possible, and I will try to bring you the latest rumours and facts concerning Madrugada. Of course, you will also be able to read all the interesting stuff about what has been updated or changed on this very webpage. E-mail -
webmaster@madrugada.de.
September 29th 2001 - Madrugada's management's webpage just recently got a make-over, and some interesting documents were added. It now includes press info on both albums in both Norwegian and English, and text by Sivert about every song on "The Nightly Disease" that should definitely be worth reading through. Visit ArtPro's webpage
here.
The
Madrugada Lyrics Section has been heavily updated, and most officially released songs are now available there. The few that are missing will be put up some time in the near future. Two new recordings were added to the
Live Bootleg Recordings page, the Lowlands and Pukkelpop festival performances on August 24th and 25th.
Someone from Madrugada posted a message at
madrugada.net reading only "Listen to music!" Under URL the person from Madrugada linked to madrugada.de, which of course I am very grateful for and which therefore makes the message deserving a mention here.
The
Madrugada Discussion Forum is now accessible through
http://forum.madrugada.de/.
September 21st 2001 - Something I forgot to add in yesterday's update: All Greek fans who have seen the tour schedule and wondered why there are no dates in Greece do not have to worry. December 13th to 16th have been put aside for touring in Greece.
The
Pollstar page lists the same tour schedule which is available in
The Concert Chronology section of this page. Thanks a lot to Christina Buech for this information. She also provided me with a setlist for the concert at the Balelek Music Farm festival in St. allen, Switzerland on May 18th, which has been put up in the chronology.
September 20th 2001 - Madrugada's manager Carsten Jøssund has provided me with a confirmed schedule for the entire "The Nightly Disease Tour 2001," from the band's European booking agency, Helter Skelter. The list is available on
The Concert Chronology page.
When it comes to the concert at Blå in Oslo, Norway that was mentioned in yesterday's news, it should be added that Robert played electric guitar and Sivert played acoustic guitar. The correct title for the song referred to as "Love's Institution" might actually be "Lost Institution," but this is still a bit insecure. In addition to a member of the audience recording the concert on DAT, someone also recorded it on MiniDisc. Thanks a lot to Raymond Hauger for this info.
September 19th 2001 - Here is some very interesting information: Madrugada did a mini-concert at Blå in Oslo, Norway on Monday night, after the author Lars Saabye Christensen had read from his newly-published book. The band consisted of Sivert and Robert, with Karim Sayed, a former member of Big Bang, playing drums. They played for about half an hour, debuting two new songs. The performance was taped on DAT by a member of the audience.
The setlist was the following:
1. Ballad Of The Silvery Seas
2. Strange Colour Blue
3. Vocal
4. Love's Institution
5. A Deadend Mind. "Ballad Of The Silvery Seas" and "Love's Institution" are new songs that have never been performed live before. The title of the latter is a bit insecure.
The Concert Chronology has been re-made, as the list of concerts was getting a bit too bit for having all concerts listed on one single page. Now the page only lists concerts for the year 2001, but of course two sections listing concerts in 1999 and earlier and concerts in 2000 are linked to at the top and at the bottom of that page. Hopefully this is not too inconvenient.
September 13th 2001 - A couple of additions to
The Concert Chronology taken from
http://www.magnetophone.com/offline/. Thanks a lot to Vinciane Lébrun for the info.
Due to incidents over in America this Tuesday, this page has not been updated since then, and will probably not be updated very much for the next couple of days. Every now and then there are things happening in this world that mean a lot more than music ever will...
September 7th 2001 - According to
ema.se, Madrugada will play at Voxhall in Århus and at Lille Vega in Copenhagen, both in Denmark, on November 17th and 18th. The page also lists one date in Sweden, at Mejeriet in Lund on November 19th. Thanks to Andreas Lindell.
Rune posted a message at the
Madrugada Discussion Forum about the "A Deadend Mind" video which was shown on the program "VG Topp 20" on NRK1 yesterday; "not much to say about the video, one man is swimming around and somebody is sitting in a boat. The people in the video were all strange to me." This is the same video that was shown at a handful of concerts on the Norwegian tour earlier this year. The NRK1 program was re-run at 15:05 today. Thanks to Rune for the information.
Mohawk also posted a message at the forum some days ago, saying that apparently DJ Jaap Boots broadcast a Madrugada concert in his VPRO program "Het Lek" on August 28th 2001. If anyone has information, I would be more than glad to get to know about it.
September 6th 2001 - According to an Internet page, Madrugada's performance at 013 in Tilburg, The Netherlands has been moved from November 22nd to October 24th. The same page reveals two new performances in The Netherlands, on November 7th at Vera in Groningen and on the 8th at Melkweg in Amsterdam. Madrugada have also been announced to play at Abart Music Club in Zürich on October 4th and at KIFF in Aarau on October 8th, noth venues in Switzerland. All of this is still unconfirmed. Thanks to Marc Verhees and Carlo Coppola for the information.
Wase posted a message at the
Madrugada Discussion Forum saying VPRO's Internet broadcast of Madrugada's performance at the Lowlands festival in The Netherlands is now available for view-on-demand. The broadcast can be found by going to VPRO's Lowlands
webpage, clicking on "Artists" on the menu and then on Madrugada in the Rock list of the next page. On the Madrugada page, the link under "3INVOOR12" should be followed, and the small icon should be clicked for access to the broadcast. Thanks a lot to Wase.
"A Deadend Mind EP" debuted on spot six on Norway's official singles chart list, VG Topp 20.
September 3rd 2001 - Due to a rushed and unexpected temporary host change, this page will be a bit unstable and several files will be missing for a shorter or longer period of time. A more or less complete version of this page should be available most of the time until a proper host is found, but until then the pictures archive and the sound files will be unavailable.
Apologies go out for any inconvenience this might cause, but really, it does seem pretty certain that this is more unconvenient for me than for anyone else... Hopefully everything will be back and working properly within a week, but it might take much longer time and much more files might become unavailable during that time, unfortunately.
September 1st 2001 - Madrugada will play at Rockefeller in Oslo, Norway on December 7th. This has been confirmed on Rockefeller's own
webpage, where you can also order tickets for the concert. According to the
webpage of the concert venue Planet Music in Wien, Austria, Madrugada will play there on October 31st. Thanks a lot to Raymond Hauger, Bård A. Olsen and Bernadette for this information.
Yesterday, the Norwegian radio channel NRK P1 broadcast the second part of Madrugada's performance at the Norwegian Wood festival in Oslo, Norway on June 9th. As I am currently on vacation and had to leave the taping of this and the first broadcast to the folks back home, I have no idea if the concert in its entirety was aired during these two broadcasts or not.
The Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reviewed the "A Deadend Mind EP" on August 28th, giving it three out of six stars, saying it is a mediocre EP which will not stand out as one of Madrugada's greatest releases.
Erik from the
Madrugada Discussion Forum posted a nice review of Madrugada's Pukkelpop Festival performance in Belgium on August 24th, which can be found by clicking
here.
Pukkelpop setlist:
1. "Departure #1"
2. "Two Black Bones"
3. "Strange Color Blue"
4. "Hands Up - I Love You"
5. "Vocal"
6. "Black Mambo"
7. "Nighly Disease Part II." "Belladonna" was supposed to have been played, but was skipped due to the band running out of time.
He noted that he later heard that there was supposedly a live-audio broadcast of the performance on the Internet at
pukkelpop.be, if anyone has information about this I would appreciate if I got to know about it. Thanks a lot to Erik, known as 'Derrik,' for the information.
As I am currently on vacation, I do not have time to update this page very often at the moment, but the
Madrugada Discography page has been updated with some information about "A Deadend Mind EP," while
The Rare Songs FAQ has been re-written with updated information and quite a few new songs added to it.
