News: What is happening in the world of Madrugada and on this page? I try to stay as updated as possible, and I will try to bring you the latest rumours and facts concerning Madrugada. Of course, you will also be able to read all the interesting stuff about what has been updated or changed on this very webpage.

July 25th 2003 - The Concert Chronology has been updated with summer festival dates, thanks to the official Madrugada page at madrugada.net. If anyone has been to any of the concerts or are planning on going to any, setlists are kindly appreciated via e-mail.

The Norwegian paper Nordlys reported yesterday that Madrugada's Sivert Høyem will be going solo. His new band is called The Opposition and they have recorded an eleven-song demo and will go into studio to record an album from these songs and three to four new ones this Autumn. Other than Sivert the band consists of Madrugada drummer Simen Vangen, Rasmus Johansen on bass and Mikael Lindqvist on organ, piano and electronica.

The band is not totally new, they had their first rehersals a couple of years ago, but only Sivert and Simen have stayed in the band since then. They have performed live a couple of times at Sortland in the north of Norway, and will do a mini-tour in the north of Norway the fortcoming days, including a concert at Blå Rock in Tromsø next Thursday. According to Sivert, the music is not like Madrugada, but rather towards the singer-songwriter tradition, with songs he writes that he writes by himself on his acoustic guitar that do not fit for Madrugada.

An album is expected early next year, but Sivert does not reveal which label will release it.

Madrugada are currently lying rather low, spending their time writing new material, and doing some festival dates this summer. After this the main focus for Sivert will be The Opposition, plus Madrugada will be focusing on getting a grip on the English market, with concerts and promo work over there up until around Christmas. But those waiting for a follow-up to "Grit" will have to stay patient, Sivert tells the paper that he does not expect the band to go into studio until about a year from now, and that he wants to work on other projects meanwhile.
