News: What is happening in the world of Madrugada and on this page? I try to stay as updated as possible, and I will try to bring you the latest rumours and facts concerning Madrugada. Of course, you will also be able to read all the interesting stuff about what has been updated or changed on this very webpage.
August 30th 2003 - Madrugada will play at Folken in Stavanger, Norway on November 28th or 29th, and at Rockefeller in Oslo, Norway on December 6th. More dates have not been announced yet, but there will most likely be a full Norwegian tour.
August 4th 2003 - A visit to the official Madrugada page at
madrugada.net tomorrow is strongly recommended. If everything goes well, there will be two videos of "Blood Shot Adult Commitment" and "7 Seconds" performed live at Wrightegaarden in Langesund, Norway on July 10th available tomorrow. The videos were shot, directed and edited by Morten A. Olsen and Gjøran Hansen. More footage from backstage and so forth will be posted soon.
Thanks to Simen Vangen for this information. He is now in charge of updating the band's official webpage himself. He also explained that car crash The Opposition was involved in last Wednesday left them to cancel the concert at Kaos in Tromsø that night, but they were fit and ready to play at Blå Rock in the same city the night afterwards.
Mikael Lindqvist from The Opposition is currently part of Madrugada's concert line-up, playing organ, piano and Rhodes. He also played on the demos for "Grit," those who want to see what he looks like can check out the
McNasty Photo Special for some pictures from those sessions at Athletic Studio in Halden, Norway in February 2002.
August 3rd 2003 - Sivert and Simen's band The Opposition were supposed to play in Tromsø, Norway on August 31st, but the concert was scheduled as the band got involved in a car accident on their way to the venue. Not much is known, but apparently no one in the band were seriously injured. Thanks to Anders for the information.
Speaking of The Opposition,
The Concert Chronology has been expanded to also include an overview of their concerts, which can be seen
here. Jon Lauvland Pettersen's new band, Long Range Desert Group, is now also included in the chronology. He is, as most people should know, Madrugada's previous drummer.
Three of the members of Long Range Desert Group went to the Czech Republic on Monday June 10th, to start work on the band's first album at Landscape Studios outside of Praha. Originally they planned on doing a tour there, but due to expenses three of the band members ended up doing early work for the album there. The full band will be going back there for another two weeks to hopefully finish the recordings.
The band currently consists of Jon Lauvland Pettersen on drums and piano, Christian Lysvaag on guitar and vocals, Tomas Lauvland Pettersen on upright bass and bass guitar, Gudmund R. Østgaard on sampler, piano and guitar, Marius Almaas Johansen on guitar and in addition Petter Svee on guitar when they perform live.
Long Range Desert Group have also worked on an EP in the studio at Nationaltheatret in Oslo, and there might be an EP-release some time soon. There are two MP3s available on the band's
official webpage;
Coda Transform and
On Caspia & Quattara.
