May 14th 2004 - Summer festival dates announced
Four festival dates in Norway this summer have now been announced at the official Madrugada webpage at madrugada.net. On the news page there the band have also put up some impressions from their stay in New York.

These dates have been added to the Concert Chronology of this page, along with a concert in America in 1999 and several updates to information. I have created a Revisions List for the chronology, which will be used to detail what has been changed or added to the guides. Major updates, such as new concert dates that have been added, will of course be announced here on the news page as normal.

May 10th 2004 - Sine show fan-review
Madrugada finished their New York-tour last night at legendary CBGB's, here is a fan-review of the second-to-last concert at Sine:

"Madrugada weren't what I expected at all. I hadn't ever checked out their music prior, so I went to the show completely blank. For some reason though, I expected them to be in the same vain as Mogwai/Godspeed. I have no clue why."

"As far as the show, they were pretty good. I could actually have seen them playing with even Interpol, but only if they still played places that house less than 400 people. They should tour with Nick Cave. Very bluesy kind of rock. All the members were talented in their own fields. Nice energy from them all. The front man doesn't need an instrument to be interesting to watch. The guitarist was like a less skilled Marty Willson-Piper, but still very talented. He liked to please the audience by getting closer to the edge of the stage."

"A couple of songs into the set, the bassist needed to restring his guitar. The singer said 'While he does that, we are going to do a song from the great Jonathan Richman.' They did a cover of The Modern Lovers' 'Hospital.' It was pretty good. With their sound, I'm sure Madrugada are huge Modern Lovers' fans. I'd see them again for $8."

The band played "Majesty," "I Think We're Running Out Of Time," "Blood Shot Adult Commitment" and the afore-mentioned "Hospital," amongst others. Thanks a lot to Couirey, who posted this review in the forum of the Interpol page at http://www.interpolny.com.

May 4th 2004 - UK tour report
Madrugada's management report that the band is very happy with the response they got at the two gigs they did in the UK recently. The 400-capacity 100 Club in London was sold out and brilliant, with everyone loving it, and the Manchester show gathered 200 people, 191 more than last time they played there!

An additional visit to the UK was supposed to have taken place later in May, but this will not happen since the band is just too busy to get something organized before the summer festivals kick in. UK'ers should expect the band back in their country by Autumn, though.

The Independent also report that the band is currently working on two new albums, one of which should be the follow-up to "Grit," the European version of that album was released in 2002. They have stated earlier that they hope to have this follow-up released by this Autumn.
